Chris Rock bashed R&B star Chris Brown during the comedian's appearance on the "Today" show early Thursday (June 7). It was prompted when Matt Lauer brought the show back from commercial by commenting "We're hoping the same kind of weather hits us tomorrow when we've got Chris Brown out on the plaza," and Rock quickly pounced on the anchors choice of words.
"Did you say you hope the same weather hits you?" he said with a grin, adding, "I hope some weather doesn't smack us upside the head."
The joke is the latest in a string of responses to Brown's recent duets with his former flame Rihanna. Released in February, "Birthday Cake" and "Turn Up The Music" stirred controversy among fans and critics alike.
In a recent interview with Esquire UK, the Barbadian songstress grew increasingly angry with her interviewer who was pressing on her choice of duet partner, even lashing out at fans saying, "I think a lot of people jumped to an assumption that was incorrect and they ended up looking stupid."
Listeners criticized Rihanna for joining her ex, who was convicted of felony assault of her in 2009, on the songs but Rihanna had the final word, claiming "Y'all holding your breath on a lot of stuff that doesn't matter."
Brown's new album, "Fortune," is set to be released on June 29.
