Josh Brolin is staying in good spirits after splitting from his wife, Diane Lane. Reps for the couple confirmed to Us Weekly exclusively on Thursday, Feb. 21, that the couple has "decided to end their marriage" after eight years, and the next day Brolin stepped out with a smile on his face.
The Men in Black 3 actor, 45, was seen leaving his L.A. home on Friday looking surprisingly happy. Brolin, wearing a black leather jacket and shades, held what appeared to be a jar of mustard while stepping out. A bit later that day, it was revealed that Lane, 48, signed her divorce papers last Thursday -- Valentine's Day, of all days -- and cited their legal date of separation as Feb. 13.
Brolin and Lane, 48, who wed in August 2004, separated several months go. "It was a mutual decision. It is very amicable," an insider told Us of their decision to split. "It's not ugly, it's just over."
This will be the second divorce for both Brolin and Lane, who don't have any children together. Lane has a daughter, Eleanor, from her previous marriage to actor Christopher Lambert; Brolin has two children, Trevor, 24, and Eden, 18, with ex-wife Alice Adair.
Last month, while promoting Gangster Squad, Brolin spoke highly of Lane to reporters. "She's a very strong woman, extremely strong," he said. "We're not really in the spotlight. I mean, we are in times like this [junket interview], but, you know, there's one light. We just do our own thing, and we always have."
