Criss Angel, the star of A&E's one-time hit "Mindfreak" and star of Cirque Du Soleil's "Believe," has been forced to cancel a string of shows after his 20-month-old son was diagnosed with cancer.
Earlier this week, Johnny Crisstopher Sarantakos, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The illusionist, who has dated Cameron Diaz, Minnie Driver and Holly Madison, quickly canceled several of his Las Vegas shows to return to the child's homeland of Australia to tend to his son.
The fact that Criss even had a child -- let alone one born in Australia -- is news to many, as very little to nothing has ever been reported about him being a father.
A press release, while confirming the illness, said Criss canceled a week's worth of performances for a "very personal family crisis." It's the first time he's missed his headlining Vegas show in more than 3,000 performances.
Johnny's cancer is the most common type of cancer in children, and it is treatable. According to the Mayo Clinic, ALL creates immature blood cells, rather than mature ones in the blood and bone marrow. About 6,000 cases are reported annually.
