Operation wedding is in full swing for Hollywood's favorite bachelor George Clooney and his fiancee Amal Alamuddin, with guests arriving and decorations going up in Venice, Italy, ahead of their marriage on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Venice's luxurious five star, 79-room Hotel Cipriani is currently being transformed into a romantic idyll, ready to host a slew of celebrations over the weekend. The hotel's elegantly converted 19th-century Granary is being fitted out with stunning crystal chandeliers and lavish place settings ready for festivities, as Us Weekly's exclusive preview snap shows.
The stunning hotel is also playing host to Alamuddin's family. "Her mom [Baria] is at the hotel already with a host of family members," a source tells Us. "They seem excited about the festivities. I heard her mom say, 'I can't believe it's actually here!'"
Amal's sister, Tala and her partner are also resident in the hotel, and making the most of their time in the stunning Italian city. On Thursday, Sept. 25, the couple took "a taxi boat" from the hotel "to go out in Venice for dinner" before returning for late night drinks around the pool.
As Us reported previously, bride-to-be Amal arrived at Milan airport with her mom on Thursday morning. She and Clooney are expected to arrive in Venice later today.
But as both the Cipriani Hotel and the seven star Aman Canal Grande (where crates were delivered early this morning full of wedding paraphernalia) get everything ship shape for one of the biggest celebrity weddings of 2014, there's no doubt that everything will go according to plan.
The wedding timetable starts this evening with a lavish rehearsal dinner at the Cipriani. On Saturday morning, guests will eat breakfast at the hotel (at Cip's Club Or Oro restaurant, depending on group allocation) before moving onto the Aman by boat, ready for the actual ceremony.
Ex-Rome mayor and pal of Clooney, Walter Veltroni will be the “celebrant” at the ceremony, performing the official wedding duties. Once married, the happy couple and their guests will feast on a five-course banquet created by Italian chef Riccardo De Pra, famous for his pairing European and Asian cuisines.
After the marriage and subsequent celebrations, guests will return to the Cipriani for late-night drinks around the pool, and fireworks. Festivities will continue into Sunday, with another dinner planned at the Cipriani that evening, before the couple finish off their European wedding weekend with a civil ceremony on Monday.
"Everyone is very excited. It's going to be quite the party," one source told Us. “There is a lot of celebrating planned. They will be serving the tequila at a couple of the parties!”
