Chris Hemsworth is currently in the Canary Islands shooting "Heart of the Sea," a Ron Howard-directed movie about the stranded crew of a whaling ship. Now, in what is either an early marketing move or an amazing coincidence, the "Thor" star was reportedly stranded on Sunday night off the coast of Spain with his pregnant wife, Elsa Pataky, and their 18-month-old daughter, India.
The London Daily Mail says a catamaran chartered by the film's production company ran aground with the Hemsworths and five other passengers on board around 8 p.m. A lifeboat, the coast guard and a helicopter were apparently dispatched to rescue the group and take them to shore. Ambulances were also on hand but thankfully not needed.
The boat was heading Playa de Santiago, a town on La Gomera in the Canary Islands.
"Nobody was hurt," says a source, "but any kind of rescue at sea is a scary event, especially for a pregnant woman with a young child."
