The fallout continues over Gwyneth Paltrow's "conscious uncoupling" from Chris Martin after ten years of marriage. On the heels of People magazine's story about how the pair occasionally had an open relationship comes a Page Six story alleging that the Coldplay frontman had a entanglement with an assistant while appearing on "Saturday Night Live" back in 2011.
Details are sketchy, but the young woman in question was supposedly either an assistant on the show or a minion attached to someone's entourage.
"He had an affair with a woman who was backstage and was part of an entourage," contends one insider. "Everyone was talking about it because he was openly flirting with her at one of the show afterparties."
Not so, says Martin's rep: "This is completely untrue. We totally deny it."
Paltrow's spokesman deftly sidestepped the subject by telling the paper, "I don't rep Chris so I cannot address those accusations."
Rumors of wandering eyes are nothing new for the former twosome. Martin has denied reports linking him to the likes Kate Bosworth and Kate Hudson, while Paltrow has scoffed at rumblings that she's spent quality time with billionaire Jeff Soffer, entertainment attorney Kevin Yorn and "Glee" producer Brad Falchuk.
"If Chris was playing around, Gwyneth didn't care," a source told People. "She's never been jealous or territorial. Her philosophy is, 'We're both adults. We make our own choices.'"
The official word from Gwyneth's overtaxed rep: "We will no longer be addressing the insane rumors that have been started by gossips."
Meanwhile, speaking of Chris Martin and assistants, check out Coldplay's new "Magic" video, in which he plays a levitating magician's helper.
