Mark Balelo, who appeared on several episodes of A&E's hit reality show Storage Wars, was found dead at his auction house on Monday, Feb. 11, The Ventura County Star reports. He was 40.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office said no further details were available pending completion of a Feb. 12 autopsy, though TMZ reports he was found dead in his car, which was parked and running in his garage in Simi Valley, Calif.
Sadly, Balelo was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance on Saturday, Feb. 9. He was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19.
Prior to his death, Balelo famously helped Nicolas Cage recover a mint-condition copy of the first-ever Superman comic book that had been stolen from the actor's locker. The 1938 issue is valued at $1 million.
Storage Wars, one of A&E's most popular programs, follows auctioneers and buyers as they blindly bid on various storage units. The winners then raid their purchases in hopes of finding valuable treasures.
