"Melrose Place" star Amy Locane has been indicted for aggravated manslaughter and assault by automobile in New Jersey, according to

Locane's Chevy Tahoe crashed into a 2007 Mercury Milan, killing its passenger Helene Seeman and injuring Seeman's husband, police say.

The 38-year-old actress later admitted to police that she had several glasses of wine before driving. "I'm surprised that an aggravated manslaughter charge was included," Locane's attorney Blair Zwillman told "I don't think it's appropriate. We are going to fiercely defend it."

Locane faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on both charges. She is currently living at home in New Jersey, free on $50,000 bail.
