LONDON (AP) — A lawyer says four clients have filed suit against the publisher of Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, a tabloid once edited by CNN host Piers Morgan.
Mark Lewis said Monday that the new lawsuits had been filed against the Trinity Mirror Group at Britain's High Court. Lewis gave no other details, and Trinity Mirror spokesman Nick Fullagar did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
The development was expected. British media insiders have been warning since last year that the phone hacking scandal which first exploded at Rupert Murdoch's News International would end up spreading to other papers.
The lawsuits are a potential embarrassment for CNN and for Morgan, who has repeatedly denied knowing about hacking while he edited the tabloid. Morgan's publicist, Meghan McPartland, referred all questions to the Mirror.
