Princes William and Harry took some time on May 2, to pay tribute to the King -- of rock 'n' roll, that is. While in Memphis, Tenn., for pal Guy Pelly's wedding, the British visitors enjoyed an afternoon at the famed Graceland estate, home to the late Elvis Presley.
Dressed for the outing in jeans and a lilac-colored oxford shirt, the Duke of Cambridge, 31, joined his younger brother, 29, and a few others for a private tour of Elvis' beloved mansion. They arrived in a caravan of black SUVs and were later photographed walking around the grounds of the 14-acre property, which includes a trophy building, a meditation garden and a racquetball court that now serves as an exhibit of the singer's career from 1972 to 1977. At one point, the group was spotted wearing gold Elvis-style sunglasses.
First opened to the public in 1982, Graceland is overflowing with Elvis artifacts -- his jumpsuits, gold records, Grammys, and even keepsakes from his life with wife Priscilla Presley and daughter Lisa Marie Presley. Hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to the estate every year, including celebs like Paul McCartney, Kristen Stewart, Mia Farrow, and Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
Princes William and Harry can now be added to that list, too, along with their cousins, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. The sisters -- whose parents are the Duke and Duchess of York -- arrived in Memphis on May 1, and will attend Pelly's wedding this weekend. (The London nightclub owner is set to wed Holiday Inn heiress Lizzy Wilson.)
One night before the Graceland outing, Duchess Kate's husband and his brother attended a private pre-wedding bash for the bride and groom, at Charles Vergos' Rendezvous, a popular barbecue joint in downtown Memphis. As previously reported, the group feasted on ribs, as well as cheese and sausage appetizers, brisket, and chicken.
Meanwhile, back in the U.K., Prince William's wife, Duchess Catherine, and son, Prince George, are recovering from their whirlwind trip to Australia and New Zealand. The family returned to London on April 25.
