SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Puerto Rico reggaeton star Don Omar has been charged with four counts of domestic violence.
Police spokesman Angel Mariani said in a phone interview Thursday that 36-year-old William Omar Landron Rivera faces two counts of abuse and two counts of threatening a person. He also faces two counts of weapons violations, including possessing a weapon and pointing it at someone.
Mariani said the charges stem from several recent incidents.
Don Omar was detained Wednesday at a house in the northern coastal town of Vega Alta. Authorities said he was accused of threatening his 26-year-old partner.
He was released late Wednesday on $600,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29.
