Tonight, Ali Fedotowski made her big decision! Two very different eligible bachelors were vying for the heart of "The Bachelorette": Roberto, a 26-year-old insurance agent from Charleston, SC, and Chris L., a 33-year-old landscaper from Cape Cod, MA. Which man did Ali choose? And did he propose? Read on for the exciting show recap!
In the final rose ceremony on the picturesque island paradise of Bora Bora, Ali's choice was without hesitation: Roberto! Not wanting to let Chris wait another day when she already knew what her choice was, she let the East Coast landscaper know the day before the ceremony what her ultimate decision was.
"My heart is not capable of loving more than one man; I am in love with Roberto; I want to be with Roberto, there's no doubt in my mind," said Ali before the final rose ceremony. She let Roberto know that he was her ultimate choice -- and the only man at the final rose ceremony - and then the Latin heartthrob got on one knee and proposed with a sparkling Neil Lane diamond ring.
"I want to share my life with you. Share your life with me. Be my wife, Ali Fedotowski," said Roberto. "Will you marry me?"
"I love you so much, I really do," said Ali, ready to begin the rest of her life with the man of her dreams. She then asked him in Spanish if he would accept the final rose.
As the final episode began, Ali knew she was in paradise with the two men of her dreams who could change her life forever -- after whittling down the herd from 25 handsome men. "I wanted to come here to risk everything for love," she said. "When I give my heart to someone, there's no guarantee. I feel extremely vulnerable."
First, the two men had an opportunity to meet Ali's family: Mom and Dad, sister Raya and brother Michael. Ali's mom told Roberto in Spanish that she felt his "heart is pure," and her father ultimately gave him his blessing. Roberto walked away from the experience saying, "I feel like I got a warm reception from everybody. … I feel closer to Ali now that I've met her family." After the initially nervous introduction, Roberto ended up teaching them how to salsa, and Ali observed. "He just fit right in."
The next day, it was Chris's turn to meet the Fedotowskis. They hit it off right away finding common ground with where Chris lives and what they do for a living. Ali's mom said of Chris, "He seems very secure in who he is, very supportive" and the fact that he came back home to care for his late mother "shows great love to be able to do that." Ali's sister Raya said, "I would be more than happy to have him as part of our family," but the final family obstacle for Chris was to ask Ali's dad if he could have his blessing to ask her hand in marriage. Her dad replied, "I would have no problem offering you my blessing," and Ali recapped, "They loved him, they absolutely loved him."
"This is harder than I thought it was going to be," said Ali, who recruited her family to help her make her decision. Ali's father sensed that Roberto was more willing to move forward with a relationship, while her sister Raya said she thought Chris was confident in his feelings for Ali, expecting to propose to her in three days. Ali's mom added that because of the loss of his own mother, "I think [Chris is] the kind of person that needs time ... but when he gets to the point where he says I love you, he'll mean it."
Ali then got some more alone time with each of her men. Riding on a jet ski with Roberto and bonding with him over an encounter with a school of touchy-feely stingrays, Ali said she appreciated his affection, something she really likes in a partner, and added, "He is one of the sexiest men I have ever known." Still, she was hoping that he would open up a little more emotionally to her. During their romantic evening date, Roberto said that opening up to her makes him nervous. He gave her a gift -- a picture of the two of them - and he told her, "I feel like I know how I feel about taking that next step. I hope you know. … If you didn't know already, I've definitely, definitely fallen in love with you."
The next day, Ali sat down with Chris and struck an emotional blow: "My feelings have been all over the place," said Ali to Chris. "I'm in love with somebody else. I have to let you go here and not [wait until] tomorrow." Chris was clearly not expecting the news, but took it in stride. "Thank you for being honest," he said, and they shared a warm embrace. "Good luck tomorrow." Ali looked him in the eye and said, "Thank you for being so understanding." "You're absolutely amazing," said Chris as Ali walked out his bungalow door.
Chris revealed that he was indeed falling for Ali: "I wasn't the one, and that hurts. … As much as this situation hurts, I want to see her happy. I really, honestly do." After Ali delivered the heartbreaking news, a beautiful rainbow appeared across the sky. "I know that's my mom telling me it's going to be okay," said Chris. "I've just got to keep looking."
