Platinum Jubilee. Fans loved it — even if Her Majesty, who was 96 when it debuted, didn't necessarily get the bit herself. According to a colleague, Elizabeth was confused by the whole thing.

In the promotional video, Queen Elizabeth II enjoys tea at the palace with an animated Paddington Bear. "Happy Jubilee, Ma'am, and thank you for everything," the children's book character tells the queen.

Scottish Parliament member Nicola Sturgeon claims Queen Elizabeth II didn't know what was happening when she shot the sketch. "We chatted about how much she had enjoyed it," Sturgeon writes in her upcoming book, Frankly. "She told me when she had filmed the Paddington sketch, she hadn't really known what it was all about. It was only when she later saw it on TV that it made sense."

Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022, just a few months after her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, making the Paddington Bear sketch especially significant for fans. "I love this short film," one person wrote on X. "It's so precious," another gushed. A third fan commented, "Am I the only one that still cries every time I watch this?"
