King Charles III allegedly has an affinity for egg dishes, but he reportedly doesn't want to risk his beloved meal being cooked wrong. "[The King] had never once cooked his own eggs and muffins. Because, like many people, Charles is fussy about how his own eggs are cooked, and because eggs are notoriously difficult to get just right, he insists that six eggs should be cooked so that at least two will be just as he likes them," royal author Tom Quinn writes in his book Yes Ma'am, which is about royal servants.

Tom Quinn wouldn't be the first royal writer to explore King Charles' eating habits and how they differ from those of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. "Unlike the Queen, who always ate what she was served, the Prince stipulated his menu preferences up-front, and sometimes arrived at dinner with his protection officer bearing a martini premixed and ready to be handed to the butler and served in his own glass," Tina Brown once wrote.

Queen Elizabeth had her own unique food orders, as she often requested her fish and chips with hake instead of the traditional haddock or cod. In addition to fish, royals also traditionally eat lots of game meat, but King Charles previously told the BBC, "For years I haven't eaten meat and fish on two days a week, and I don't eat dairy products on one day a week."

In 2018, King Charles guest edited Country Life and shared that he invented a grouse coq au vin and a grouse moussaka, which he named "groussaka." The publication also shared the then-Prince of Wales' favorite recipe for pheasant crumble pie.
