Columnist Kenneth Rose's recently published personal journals reveal what Edward, Duke of Windsor, left King Charles III."Prince Charles tells me that the only thing the Duke of Windsor left him in his will was a collection of kilts: 'But as my great-uncle was such a tiny man, none of them fit me,' " Rose claimed, per Daily Mail.

While King Charles III can't wear his uncle's clothing, kilts continue to be a signature part of his wardrobe.Charles' use of the traditional Scottish garb is often seen as a sign of respect.

While King Charles III often wears a kilt, Prince William often avoids wearing one. Scottish tailor John Sugden, who owns Campbell's of Beauly and has a royal warrant (which provides goods to the family), spoke on the Prince of Wales' attire in Scotland."We would be delighted to make a kilt and jacket for the Prince of Wales. It would keep up a tradition and, especially being Lord of the Isles, it would be a perfect vehicle to popularize the traditional Highland dress — particularly to a younger generation," Sugden said, per The Guardian.

Prince William's decision to wear pants on official gatherings in Scotland has been criticized by royal experts."It is curious that William has not worn the kilt as an adult, though he may have done so in private," managing editor of Majesty magazine Joe Little said, according to The Guardian.
