Meghan Markle Slammed for Gifting L.A. Fire Victim Billie Eilish T-Shirt

Meghan Markle can never catch a break.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was slammed by online trolls after sharing a video revealing how she was able to track down Billie Eilish merchandise for a teen who lost their home in the Los Angeles, Calif., wildfires.

The very excited royal took to Instagram on Tuesday, February 4, to explain how she and her husband, Prince Harry, visited the city of Altadena, "a community where all the homes were left in ashes."
During their time there, the power couple met a mom and her 15-year-old daughter searching through the remains of their burnt-down house for a "T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had gone to."
"And of course, they now see their home and the washing machine, their dryer, are ash. They're not there anymore," Meghan noted.

"I said, 'I don't know Billie Eilish. But I'm going to figure out how to get you this shirt.' So I thought of everybody that I knew and I made a voice note… I was like, 'Please, can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish? Here's what I'm asking,'" the mother-of-two said.
Meghan later revealed the pop star, 23, heard her plea and sent a few items. "This is going to mean so much to her," she exclaimed.
Despite the lovely gesture, some social media users were not buying Markle's good deed.

"I don't think this is going to land how #MeghanMarkle wants it to. She didn't know how to replace a Billie Eilish concert T-shirt?" one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Um…Amazon? Obviously, she wanted to name-drop and humble brag and she couldn't just DO this she had to announce how altruistic, connected and nice she is. It's all me me me! Look what I did I. I. I. She will never learn. Not a drop of humility. #MeghanMarkleExposed #MeghanMarkleIsABully #MeghanIsTheProblem #HarryandMeghan," the same user continued in the lengthy message.

"My house burned down and all I got was this c—– T-shirt from Meghan Markle," another person added.
"Then she wonders why people can't stand her," a third chimed in.
"Why are there so many edits? It's as if she scripted and rehearsed this," a fourth noted.

This is far from the first time the Suits actress was criticized for doing something kind. Meghan and Harry, 40, were put in the hot seat after pictures of their trip to comfort people in Altadena were made public.
"Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers," Family Ties star Justine Bateman wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"What a repulsive 'photo op' they achieved. They are 'touring the damage?' Are they politicians now? They don't live here; they are tourists. Disaster Tourists," she added.
