Following the sneak peek at the latest installment of
With Love, Meghan, — which will premiere on August 26 — Meghan Markle and
Prince Harry confirmed their first-look deal with Netflix. "We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand," the mother of two said. "My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally and celebrates our shared vision."

The update came after speculation circulated over whether or not Netflix would want to partner with
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle again after some of their projects on the streaming service failed to attract significant viewership. Luckily, the company offered up another deal. However, the couple allegedly had to take a pay cut and submit to tightened restrictions. "They have shot the golden goose of 2020 — more of a 'we'll call you' than 'here's the checkbook.' It's a first-look deal, which means Netflix gets first dibs but no obligation to bankroll every semi-royal whim," publicist
Mark Borkowski claimed. "I reckon Netflix is trimming fat industry-wide, so this is less carte blanche, more curated cameo. They're still in business together – Meghan's As Ever brand and seasonal specials keep them in the Netflix shop window, but make no mistake, this is a slimmed-down sequel to the blockbuster original. So Harry and Meghan's new Netflix chapter [is] less champagne budget, more prosecco by the glass."

As for whether or not
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will continue the partnership for years to come, Netflix's CEO,
Ted Sarandos,
revealed the company is tied to the
Suits star's lifestyle brand, As Ever. "We're a passive partner in Meghan's company and it's a big discovery model for us right now," he explained. Meghan claimed she was "building out a very different business plan" until she spoke with
Josh Simon, Netflix's vice president of consumer products. "The reach from Netflix, coupled with my vision for the brand, felt like it was going to be a really perfect match," she noted in an interview. "They have tremendous experience on licensing deals and turning brands and shows into really good products, like
Bridgerton."

While the future beyond the current deal remains uncertain,
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have numerous Netflix projects in the works. The duo will be producing a new documentary project,
Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within. They're also working on an adaptation of
Carley Fortune's bestselling novel
Meet Me at the Lake.

Despite the naysayers, many people at Netflix have gushed over
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's work with the company. "Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere," Netflix's Chief Content Officer
Bela Bajaria said. "The response to their work speaks for itself —
Harry & Meghan gave viewers an intimate look into their lives and quickly became one of our most-watched documentary series. … More recently, fans have been inspired by
With Love, Meghan, with products from the new As Ever line consistently selling out in record time. We're excited to continue our partnership with Archewell Productions and to entertain our members together."
