New job, new look! Prince Harry stepped out for his first public appearance since getting rid of his extra scruff last week. The 29-year-old debuted his clean-shaven face at the South Pole Challenge Conference in London on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Us Weekly reported on Jan. 16 that the royal shaved his beard just two weeks after it was revealed that his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II wasn't all that fond of her grandson's bushy hair.

Her majesty is "not keen" about it, an insider told Us of the 87-year-old British monarch. "Facial hair will never go down with the queen."

Harry has been making changes in his professional life, too. On Jan. 17, it was confirmed that he would be leaving his job with Britain's Army Air Corps after more than three years. Kensington Palace announced he would be leaving his post as Apache helicopter pilot to become a staff officer in London.

The new gig will begin this week, and he will be responsible for coordinating "significant projects and commemorative events," a source told Us.

One of his first events? He plans for Britain to host the Warrior Games, an Olympic-style competition for wounded servicemen and women. "Prince Harry was hugely impressed by the Warrior Games, which he visited in the United States in May," a Palace spokesperson previously told Us. "He said then he would be keen to see it brought to the UK and would do what he could to help."
