Alex Trebek's family doesn't want to see anyone other than him at the "Jeopardy!" podium, and they haven't, according to a loved one.
The adopted daughter of the late iconic host spoke to CBS This Morning about her father's legacy, and she discussed her thoughts on the rotation of guest hosts currently filling his longtime spot.
"To be honest, I have not watched one, and my family, we haven't watched any at all," Nicky Trebek said.
Guests hosts have included Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers, Dr. Mehmet Oz and others.
Alex's daughter, whom he shared with his first wife Elaine Callei, worked on the game show off-and-on throughout adulthood. She even worked there the day of Alex's final taping. She quickly realized she couldn't stay in her role after he passed on Nov. 8, 2020, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
"To me, it was his show and it's difficult for me to carry on on the show," she said. "I drove him home on the last day of the last taping he was able to do."
To continue Alex's legacy, the TV legend's daughter created "Team Nicky Trebek," a team participating in Los Angeles' virtual 2021 Purple Stride event on May 1 to benefit pancreatic cancer.
"I just want to honor his fight," Nicky said during the emotional interview. "I feel that Purple Stride is a way to show how much integrity he had throughout the whole thing."
Earlier this month, Nicky honored her father on Instagram on the anniversary of his cancer announcement on "Jeopardy!"
"It was 2 years ago today while we were working on the @jeopardy set that my dad bravely stepped out in front of the camera to announce he had been diagnosed with #pancreaticcancer," she wrote. "He brought much-needed #awareness to this terrible disease and provided #hope to so many struggling. I'm beyond proud of him for his courage and integrity throughout his illness So I'm continuing what he started and will fight for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer. That's why I support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network @pancan in their #mission to improve patient outcomes."
