The mark of a champion!
At just 17 years old, Missy Franklin has made Olympic history by earning four gold medals and one bronze at the 2012 Olympics in London in mid-August. And now that she has a new tattoo commemorating her first Games, her incredible victories will be with her forever.
Via Twitter on Thursday, the high school senior showed off her new ink -- the Olympic rings -- on her right hip. "All inked up! AHH! Can't believe it! My one and only!" she posted along with the pic of her wearing a brightly colored Speedo swimsuit and vibrant nail decals.
Franklin's new ink wasn't an impulse though. Earlier this month, she told TODAY how she was considering getting tatted with the same symbol sported by fellow Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps, Brendan Hansen and Matt Grevers.
"Getting a tattoo has never been something I ever thought I would do, but this one just has so much meaning to it and it is really something that you have to earn," the Aurora, CO teen told the network. "It's an honor to have it."
Franklin isn't the only athlete to have revamped her look since bringing home the gold. Pint-sized gymnast Gabby Douglas, who became the first African American woman to earn the gold medal in the All-Around Finals, received a hair makeover from Anne Hathaway's hairstylist, Ted Gibson, upon arriving back in the States.
