Shay Mitchell can't sum up her fashion philosophy with just one word.
"I feel like I'm always evolving in fashion and who I am, and discovering new things about myself. And I think with that comes my style and what I wear," the 25-year-old Pretty Little Liars star says. "Fashion should be fun and not have too many limitations or rules. Wear what you want."
The actress and former model is the first of 14 celebrities to be named the face of American Eagle's Fall 2012 "Live Your Life" campaign, and Us Weekly has a behind-the-scenes look at Mitchell's photo shoot.
"It's comfortable and it's me," the Canadian star explains of why she teamed up with the brand. "It was a very natural fit."
Mitchell continues: "I love American Eagle. I feel like they have great, quality pieces. I have a bunch of their jeans, and they're always really comfortable, they look great and they're affordable. They have millions of styles!"
The campaign was shot in the ABC Family actress' home and "showed things that I do on a daily basis," Mitchell says. "I love going to the flower market and picking flowers on Sundays. We did that today. It shows how I wear the clothes in my life."
Mitchell has also worn American Eagle merchandise on Pretty Little Liars. "It's just very suitable, especially for the demographic," she says. "It's very fun and it's fresh."
Though she describes her character's wardrobe as both "fashion-forward" and "comfortable," Mitchell insists she doesn't "fight over clothes" with costars Ashley Benson, 22, Lucy Hale, 22, and Troian Bellisario, 26. "Each of the characters are extremely different," she explains.
The TV star also dropped hints about what new mysteries will unfold when Pretty Little Liars returns with all new episodes June 5 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC Family.
"Some of the things that they've told me are coming up this season are crazy," she teased. "I know that the fans will not be disappointed. It's only going to get bigger and better."
