NEW YORK (AP) — Univision Communications is pairing with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez on the English-language El Rey television network that is scheduled to debut later this year.
The company that runs Univision, the most popular Spanish-language network in the country, said Tuesday it has invested in El Rey. Terms were not disclosed.
Rodriguez said the network's first scripted series will be an adaptation of the movie he directed, "From Dusk Till Dawn." Rodriguez said the extra time in the series will allow him to expand the story and offer richer Aztec mythology.
Otherwise, the network will have a mix of reality, scripted, music and sports programming along with movies.
