Pubs, Pudding and Parents: Taylor Tours England With Harry
Taylor Swift doesn't do romance by degrees. It's all or nothing, and right now, she's suctioned to the side of Harry Styles. The suddenly ubiquitous lovebirds surfaced in northern England this week, where they toured the Lake District, hung out at a pub, spent quality time with the One Direction popster's mom and sister and exposed themselves to a variety of avian-borne diseases, if this fan-snapped Twitpic is any indication.
Swift, who turned 23 on Thursday, joined Styles, 18, at a pub for a typical English dinner on Tuesday night.
"Harry was really sweet. He helped her to choose from the menu as it was a lot of local food," a source tells the London Sun. "He made sure Taylor tried the black pudding. She was pretty shocked when she found out what was in it." (That would be blood sausage, for those unfamiliar with English cuisine.)
But despite their tendency toward PDA in New York (not to mention that "Dirty Dancing" lift), they apparently didn't give off much of a romantic vibe while chowing down.
"She was polite and pleasant -- fantastic," the pub manager gushes to People. "She is just having a nice tour of England. They were like any typical group of people having dinner. Everyone thinks they are a couple, but to be honest, we had no sense of that at all."
Still, Harry apparently made sure to give Taylor (aka, the new Yoko) a generous birthday gift. The London Mirror says he surprised her with a $1,600 Burberry purse, which was promptly pecked by some swans they were feeding in what Swift likely figured would be a picture-perfect fairytale moment.
He also ordered her 23 cupcakes from a local bakery.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the pair did what every teenage boy dreams of: They hit the gift shop at the World of Beatrix Potter, where Swift reportedly loaded up on stuffed animals.
