Selena Gomez Justin Bieber interview
Selena Gomez shuts down Justin Bieber questions
Selena Gomez must be handled with kid gloves. Her interview requirements are strict, and while she will answer personal questions for the likes of Ryan Seacrest, lesser types don't have that privilege. During a satellite chat this week with Chicago's WGN, the birthday girl was asked about her sometime squeeze, Justin Bieber.
"You're, you know, probably as close a friend to Justin Bieber as they come," entertainment writer and critic Dean Richards pointed out (watch it here). "Is there something about him that we don't get or we don't understand? I mean, there is one story after another of, you know, pretty outrageous behavior that we're reading about. What don't we get about him?"
Selena did not appreciate the line of questioning about the alleged saliva-sharing, speed limit-ignoring, mop bucket urinator, and she appeared to look nervously to her publicists during the queries. The interview was then abruptly cut off.
By contrast, she was willing to open up (to a point) during a more in-depth sit-down with Seacrest.
"Are you with Justin, or are you not with Justin?" asked Ryan. Responded Selena, "No, I'm not. … I'm a kid, and a breakup is normal. I have to go through the emotions and feel it out."
She also admitted that she was overwhelmed by the public nature of the romance."
"I'm sure you could actually see those pictures of me being, like, way stressed out about it," Gomez explains. "And it's hard, because what do you do? Do you just wanna sit in your house and hide and not go anywhere?"
These days, the quality she's looking for in a boyfriend is "honesty."
"Egos turn me off, big time. I mean it's hard to just date in this industry, it really is, because it doesn't have to be anything serious, it can just be something fun -- and it should be because I'm young -- but, you just can't really help the people that you meet or that you fall in love with or that you wanna date. I want someone who can make me laugh and just be normal and understand my lifestyle and how I wanna live it."
