2. Martin Scorsese earns first acting nomination
Martin Scorsese has three Emmys — and several more nominations — for his work as a television director and producer, but he earned his first Emmy nomination for his work as an actor for his guest spot playing a version of himself on The Studio. The 82-year-old filmmaker was previously recognized for directing and producing George Harrison: Living in the Material World and for directing Boardwalk Empire.
3. Kathy Bates becomes oldest nominee for best lead actress in a drama series
Kathy Bates is now the oldest ever nominee for best lead actress in a drama series at age 77. Angela Lansbury was the previous title holder when she was nominated for Murder, She Wrote at age 70 in 1996. The Titanic alum was recognized for her work on the CBS reboot of Matlock, on which she plays septuagenarian Madeline "Matty" Matlock.
4. Adolescence star becomes youngest nominee for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie
At age 15, Adolescence star Owen Cooper is now the youngest ever nominee for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie. The U.K. native was honored for his work as teen murder Jamie Miller on the hit Netflix series.
5. Bella Ramsey becomes first openly non-binary performer to earn more than one Emmy nomination
Bella Ramsey was recognized for their work on The Last of Us for the second time, making them the first openly non-binary performer to earn more than one Emmy nomination from the Television Academy.
6. The Studio scores most nominations ever for a freshman comedy series, ties The Bear for most in history
The Studio broke Ted Lasso's record for most nominations for a freshman comedy series with 23 nominations this year. (Ted Lasso earned 20 back in 2021.) The Apple TV+ series also tied a record previously set by The Bear for most nominated comedy series ever.
7. Apple TV+ scores record-breaking 81 Emmy nominations
It was a banner year for Apple TV+. The streaming service racked up 81 Emmy nominations — more than any other network or streamer in a single year. Severance scored 27 nominations for its second season alone.
