Cold Water Thrown on Brad and Angelina Wedding Whispers
By Kat Giantis
Didn't get an invitation to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's rumored nuptials? Don't be disappointed. One day after Us Weekly announced that the megastars would soon be walking down the aisle, People magazine has countered with a curt "nuh-uh."
Citing "multiple sources" close to the Jolie-Pitts, People quotes an insider as saying, "There is no evidence nor any single truth" to claims that the parents of six are planning to get hitched in the next few months.
Brad and Angelina have both acknowledged that kids Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5, and 3-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne ask them about marriage. "It's meaning more and more to them," the do-gooder actress said last year. "So it's something we've got to look at."
Us, however, says a wedding will happen soon, and pinpoints the family's sprawling estate in the south of France as the most likely location. The ceremony will supposedly be an "intimate and informal" affair because "they think a big, splashy wedding is tacky."
Pitt, who recently reiterated his support for gay marriage, tied the knot with Jennifer Aniston in a million-dollar, fireworks-inclusive extravaganza in 2000.
Jolie, meanwhile, went low-key for her two trips to the altar: She wed Jonny Lee Miller wearing a shirt with his name written in her blood, and said "I do" with Billy Bob Thornton in a quickie Las Vegas ceremony.
Whatever happens, Brad and Angelina know better than anyone that making things legal is no guarantee of domestic success. What matters most is their commitment to each other, and, of course, giving us something to talk about.
