Alicia Liberty thinks Meghan Markle's resumption of her former career is nothing more than an attention grab. "Meghan's return to acting feels like the next desperate move in her ongoing bid to stay relevant," the journalist wrote for
Daily Express. "Her last major role was Rachel Zane in
Suits, a legal drama that wrapped back in 2019."

While Meghan Markle does have notable projects on her resume, Alicia Liberty doesn't believe the Duchess of Sussex's acting career is worth reviving. "Let's be honest. What exactly is Meghan Markle's acting legacy? She's no Angelina Jolie or Natalie Portman. These are women with serious film careers, respected for their craft, not their camera angles," she said.

Fortunately, Meghan Markle will be playing herself in the upcoming Amazon Prime movie Close Personal Friends. The With Love, Meghan star will make a cameo alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson and Jack Quaid.

Meghan Markle left her acting career behind when she got engaged to
Prince Harry. "It's a new chapter," she said in a 2017 interview with BBC's
Mishal Husain. "I've been working on my show [
Suits] for seven years. So, we're very, very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series. For me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, you know what? I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work I've done there and now it's time to work as a team with [Harry]."

In 2020, Meghan Markle and
Prince Harry left their roles in the royal family to live in America. In the years since, the couple has ventured into television production and podcasting, with minimal success. The mother of two also launched a lifestyle brand called As Ever, which has struggled since its debut.
