On the second season of
With Love, Meghan, Meghan Markle spoke candidly about how difficult it was to leave her children with Prince Harry —
Prince Archie and
Princess Lilibet — for three weeks to be in England after
Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022. Depending on whether or not the Duke of Sussex patches things up with King Charles III and the rest of the royal family, the mother of two may need to spend more time across the pond. "If — and hopefully it's a 'when' not an 'if' — Harry starts to reconcile with his family over here, Meghan will ultimately face an exceedingly difficult choice," royal commentator
Duncan Larcombe explained. "Does she come with Harry and look the people she's criticized in the eyes? Which is going to be tough. Or does she allow Harry to come with the children and stay away? If it's the latter, she would miss the children and it would be interpreted as an enormous snub by Meghan herself and the rift then becomes more about her than Harry. She faces potentially difficult choices if we're getting to a state where Harry's prepared to bury the hatchet."

According to Duncan Larcombe, Meghan Markle will face a tricky road forward with her in-laws while also balancing her responsibilities as a mother. "Meghan clearly hates being apart from her children and when Prince Harry has come to the U.K., Meghan hasn't come with him and has been blamed for snubbing Britain as a result," the royalist said. "Meghan wants to be a hands-on mum and was never prepared to make the sacrifice that royal mums have to make."

Prince Harry will be heading to England in the coming days as speculation mounts that he and his father, King Charles III, will be attending an awards ceremony together despite their lengthy estrangement. "It's clear there is now a determination on both sides to make this happen. Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry," an insider previously said. "For the first time in a long time, there's a genuine sense that reconciliation is within reach. Prince Harry's team and the palace have opened a line of communication and there is every hope that father and son will see one another when the duke returns to London in September."
