Meghan Markle's former friend Lizzie Cundy claimed the Duchess of Sussex was hoping to upstage Kate Middleton with her new show. "It doesn't matter how many pots of jam she makes, she has to stop pretending. She's not Martha Stewart," Cundy told DailyMail.com, adding that she previously thought Meghan was "really fun, really sweet" and now thinks she should just "be who she is."

"She's fuming how the public loves Kate [Middleton]. She needs to stop being bitter, stop being angry and stop being 'poor me,'" Lizzie Cundy said of Meghan Markle, adding that the retired actress should "take a leaf out of Kate's book."

Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey in 2021 that Kate Middleton made her cry over a spat centered around Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress before she married Prince Harry in 2018. "I'm not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her," Meghan said, adding that she thought it was "really important for people to understand the truth."
