After
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed
Prince William wasn't warm, the future king of England appeared affectionate during a meet-up with former soccer player
Jill Scott. In the
clip, William gave the athlete a big hug as they teamed up to promote the importance of parks and fields.

This isn't the first time
Prince William proved
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wrong. During a visit to Brazil for his 2025 Earthshot Prize, the Prince of Wales
played soccer with children at Maracana Stadium. William appeared comfortable and engaging as he hugged the young players and posed for photos with them.

During
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2022 Netflix docuseries,
Harry & Meghan, the pair accused
Prince William and
Kate Middleton of not being welcoming when they met. "When Will and Kate came over, and I was meeting her for the first time, I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot," Meghan recalled. "Like I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger. I didn't realize that it is really jarring for a lot of Brits. I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside."

In
Prince Harry's 2023 memoir
Spare, he claimed
Prince William "recoiled" when Meghan Markle tried to embrace him. "I introduced Meg, who leaned in and gave him a hug, which completely freaked him out," the father of two wrote.

Prince William and
Prince Harry's rift shows no signs of being repaired. "William feels Harry has repeatedly chosen public exposure over private resolution and that the royal family can't keep being dragged into the headlines every time there's a new contract to promote," a source told
The Mirror. "The issue with Harry, as well as Meghan [Markle], is one of trust. Ever since moving to North America, they have eroded all confidence in their ability to keep things or their criticisms private. For there to be any chance of moving forward, that trust has to be rebuilt and Team Sussex knows the onus is on them."
