Kinzinger Slams U.S. for Turning Its Back on Ukraine
Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran and vocal Donald Trump critic, expressed deep disappointment in how the U.S. is handling Russia's war in Ukraine. Following the chaotic Oval Office meeting where Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance berated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kinzinger declared that the U.S. is no longer on the side of the "good guys."He criticized Trump's continued praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin and warned that America's credibility on the global stage is at risk.
Here are four key points from the veteran's critique of Trump and Vance.

Trump and Vance's Oval Office Meltdown Sparks Global Concern
During the Oval Office meeting, Zelensky questioned Vance on whether Putin could be trusted in any ceasefire negotiations. Instead of addressing the concern, Vance lashed out, calling Zelensky "disrespectful."Trump then joined in, complaining that Ukraine's leader was not showing enough gratitude for U.S. aid. The confrontation ended with Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly telling Zelensky to leave the White House.
The incident has raised alarm among European allies, with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas declaring, "Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader."
Zelensky Leaves White House Without Key Minerals Deal
A crucial part of Zelensky's visit was the potential signing of an agreement granting the U.S. access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals. However, after the heated exchange in the Oval Office, the Ukrainian president left without finalizing the deal. The abrupt end to the meeting has fueled speculation about whether Ukraine will seek stronger partnerships with European nations instead of relying on an increasingly unpredictable Trump administration.Kinzinger: 'America Should Be Embarrassed'
Kinzinger did not hold back in his criticism, arguing that Zelensky should not have to "grovel" to Trump just to maintain U.S. support. He pointed out that the Ukrainian leader has to project strength for the morale of his people and that Trump's demands for gratitude are undermining the U.S.'s role as a global leader."If he comes here and grovels to a toddler that needs to be groveled to, what message is that sending to his troops in the trench?" Kinzinger said.
Social Media Reacts
Kinzinger's comments resonated with many online, as social media erupted over the Oval Office debacle. One user on X wrote, "Trump is embarrassing us on the world stage AGAIN. Zelensky is fighting for his country, and we're treating him like an inconvenience."
Another added, "J.D. Vance calling Zelensky 'disrespectful' for questioning Putin is insane. Who are we even supporting anymore?"
Meanwhile, former Rep. Liz Cheney reposted Kinzinger's comments, stating, "We should all be ashamed. America should be leading the fight for democracy, not shaming those who are actually in the trenches."
