Baby scare
Kourtney Kardashian was rushed to the hospital in early September for "urgent fetal surgery" to save her unborn baby's life, she revealed on Instagram on Sept. 6.
"I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby's life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this," she wrote.
The reality TV star's husband, Travis Barker, had been in Europe touring with his band, blink-182, when the health emergency happened. He immediately flew to Los Angeles and the band postponed several dates.
"As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn't prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery," Kourtney wrote. "I don't think anyone who hasn't been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant." She added, "Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing."

Bombshell report
Jimmy Fallon has been accused of fostering a "toxic workplace" at "The Tonight Show": In a new report, 16 current and former employees told Rolling Stone they experienced bullying, intimidation and "chaos" on the set. While some claims target producers and showrunners, others revolve around Jimmy's allegedly unpredictable behavior at work.
According to the employees, none of whose names were published, the late night host had "good days" and "bad days" and a habit of taking his bad moods out on underlings, some of whom alleged Jimmy was drunk or hungover on bad days. "Nobody told Jimmy, 'No.' Everybody walked on eggshells, especially showrunners," a former employee told the magazine. "You never knew which Jimmy we were going to get and when he was going to throw a hissy fit. Look how many showrunners went so quickly. We know they didn't last long."
Since the report came out on Sept. 7, some have denied the allegations. A show assistant contacted by "Entertainment Tonight" said the piece "completely misrepresents the atmosphere." Citing a "show source," Page Six reported that the vibe on set has improved "significantly" since Chris Miller took over as showrunner.

A ring started their marriage, and a Ring might have ended it.
After four years of matrimony, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are puling the plug on their union. On Sept. 5, the singer filed to divorce the "Game of Thrones" actress, with whom he shares two daughters. The filing came just days after reports claimed their marriage was on the rocks and that Joe was looking for a divorce lawyer.
One source told TMZ, "She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles." The couple's inner circle isn't surprised. A source told People magazine, "They were not separated but they've been living separate lives for months." The split became more intriguing after TMZ claimed the "last straw" involved a Ring security camera. Citing sources who have direct contact with Joe, the website reported that the singer "had access to a Ring cam that he said captured Sophie [Turner] saying and/or doing something that made him realize the marriage was over." The Ring incident was apparently the "lynchpin to divorce."
On Sept. 6, the former couple shared a joint statement on Instagram that read, "Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."

Parrothead death
Jimmy Buffett, the legendary singer-songwriter who turned his laid-back beach lifestyle into a billion-dollar empire, is dead following a four-year battle with Merkel cell skin cancer, his family announced on Sept. 3. He was diagnosed with the rare, aggressive cancer in 2019.
"Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs," his rep announced in a statement. "He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many."
Forbes reported that the beloved musician had reached a net worth of $1 billion thanks to his music career, multiple books and successful restaurant chains.

Car crash
Former "High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale is being sued over her involvement in a 2022 car crash that allegedly left a woman with "severe" physical injuries and several emotional traumas including "loss of love."
In a new lawsuit, a woman named Lina Gonzales claims she was making a left turn on Los Angeles's famed Hollywood Boulevard when the actress changed lanes and caused a collision between their vehicles. After the crash, the former Disney Channel star allegedly made a "big fuss" and started calling Lina unspecified names, her attorney claims (Ashley's rep denies this).
The woman alleges she was massively affected by the incident. Lina's attorney said she now has "severe neck and back injuries" as a result of the crash. In her lawsuit, she alleges that she also suffered loss of wages, loss of use of property, hospital and medical expenses, general damage, property damage, loss of earning capacity and loss of society, love, protection, companionship and consortium.
Lina's attorney told TMZ in a story published on Sept. 4 that her medical expenses total around $140,000. Lina, via her attorney, demanded $600,000 as compensation, but Ashley rejected the number.
R.I.P., All Star
On Sept. 4, Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell died at 56 from acute liver failure.
The Grammy nominee — who came to fame in the '90s when his band released hits including "All Star," which gained even more popularity when it was featured in "Shrek" — "passed peacefully and comfortably" surrounded by family and friends at his home in Boise, Idaho, the band's manager, Robert Hayes, confirmed in a statement.
Steve's health had been failing for some time in large part due to his alcohol use, his manager previous confirmed, and he was in hospice care at the time of his passing.
Prison-bound
Former "That '70s Show" star Danny Masterson will serve the next 30 years in prison after being found guilty on two counts of rape earlier this year. A judge rendered the sentence on Sept. 7 in a Los Angeles courtroom.
The actor was first arrested in 2020 and charged with three counts of rape for incidents that allegedly occurred between 2001 and 2003 during the height of his sitcom fame. He's maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty. In late 2022, his first sexual assault trial ended in a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury. A new trial concluded in May 2023: A jury found him guilty on two of the three rape counts he was facing; the jury was deadlocked on the third.
Danny did not speak at his sentencing hearing, and he didn't speak during his trial. "Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here. Your actions 20 years ago took away another person's choice and voice," the judge scolded him at his sentencing. "Your actions 20 years ago today were criminal, and that's why you are here."
