During the episode, the former ABC News anchor called the conservative political commentator the "king of callousness" for retracting his support for Trump and his policies when it didn't serve him.
"DOGE for thee, but not for me?" Phillip questioned about the move.
"The leopard eats Jesse Watters' face," her guest Democratic strategist and former Fox News contributor Julie Roginsky jokingly added.

During the Wednesday, February 19, episode of The Five, Watters revealed his pal was set to be let go as a part of Trump and Elon Musk's government spending cuts.
"Let me tell you a story about Chris. Chris was a guy I met at a shooting event in New Jersey," he began. "A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Military, one of the guys who has killed a lot of bad guys. Put his life on the line. He punched out after 20 years of working for the Pentagon. And he's only been there a few months, so his probationary period he just found out he's probably going to get laid off. He's going to get DOGE'd."

"He texted me and said, 'Jesse, this is not good. I'm really sad. I'm upset.' This guy is not a DEI consultant. He is not a climate consultant. This guy is a veteran," Watters continued. "So, when you're talking about DOGE-ing people, veterans should get priority. Because if you're going to go out there and kill enemies, put your life on the line, you should not be in the same category as people that are doing DEI."
"We just need to be a little bit less callous with the way we talk about DOGE'ing people," he emphasized to co-host Harold Ford.

The media personality admitted he was all for the budget cutting until it affected someone in his life. "I finally found one person I knew who got DOGE'd, and it hit me in the heart," Watters admitted.
"Talking about big-ticket items, right? Let's talk about those. The Pentagon, you have a weapons program in some influential congressman's district, it is showing no promise in the theater of war," he continued. "You cut that! And that's big savings! So, besides saving my friend, Chris, we want bigger dividend doge check rebates. I don't want to pay down the debt, put it back into the economy."
This message is a far cry from mere days ago, when Watters raved about the former reality star's drastic moves. "If agencies can't justify their headcount, Musk's planning on slashing every department from 30 to 40 percent. If DODGE finds an unused federal building, they're going to sell it and put the profits in the piggy bank," he explained.
"Trump has his eyes on 14 vacant federal buildings, so if you want to live in an 80,000 square foot estate at the foot of the Potomac that's been collecting cobwebs for six decades, put in a bid," he boldly stated. "The government has more money than it knows what to do with."
