Trump attempted to shout out Senator Tommy Tuberville's previous role as a coach, but the Republican credited the latter for Mahomes' college career.
"Tommy Tuberville, a great coach," Trump said. "You know, his quarterback was named Mahomes. He was a great college coach."

Although Tuberville worked at Texas Tech, he left in 2012 — two years before the NFL player began his freshman year.
"And I said, 'How good was he?' He said, 'You don't wanna know how good,'" Trump told a crowd despite Mahomes never being on Tuberville's team.
"He made me into a great coach. He's a pretty good quarterback, right?' Yeah, he was very good," he added. "He's a good guy too."

Mahomes found himself in the hot seat after he seemed enthusiastic about Trump announcing he would attend the game.
"Yeah, I mean it's always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is at the top position in our country," Mahomes said at a press conference on Wednesday, February 5.

The Super Bowl champion's wife, Brittany Mahomes, was criticized last year after she was caught "liking" the president's "2024 GOP Platform" Instagram post. However, the former soccer player clapped back at followers after being criticized for her beliefs.
"I mean honestly," Brittany wrote in an Instagram Story. "To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood."

Brittany attempted to brand her fan's shock as bullying.
"There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well," the mom-of-three continued.
Patrick rarely discusses his political beliefs, but his mother, Randi, proudly wore a "Make America Great Again" cap to one of her son's games.
"Make America great again. Let's do it. Woo!" Randi said in a video.

Due to Brittany seemingly supporting Donald, the reality star praised the pair.
"I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful political movement in the history of our now failing country," Donald wrote on Truth Social.

"With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION ravaging all Americans, and a world that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless 'leaders,' it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM," he added. "What a great couple — See you both at the Super Bowl!"
