During a press conference on Monday, February 3, the commander-in-chief said, "Elon has got access only to letting people go that he thinks are no good. If we agree with him and it's only if we agree with him. Elon can't do that and won't do anything without our approval."
"And we'll give him the approval where appropriate and where not appropriate, we won't; where we think there's a conflict, we won't let him go near it," Trump explained.

According to The Apprentice star, within the scope of Musk's job to cut the nation's spending, he allegedly uncovered frivolous expenses on the government's dime.
"They are finding a tremendous amount of waste, really more waste than anything else I think you could say. Probably fraud and abuse can be added to that. But they are finding tremendous amounts of really bad things, bad spending," Trump alleged.

The Republican's remarks about the Telsa founder come after Musk recently held a live session on X Spaces, previously known as Twitter Spaces, where he claimed Trump approved him to "shut down" the U.S. Agency for International Development.
"It became apparent that it's not an apple with a worm in it," he stated. "What we have is just a ball of worms. You've got to basically get rid of the whole thing. It's beyond repair. We're shutting it down."
Despite the close bond between the entrepreneurs, Musk faced some heat from MAGA loyalists after he criticized Trump's $500 billion dollar AI infrastructure project.
