Meghan Markle gushed over motherhood while chatting with Tan France. "It's better than I ever expected," she said, adding, "The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks. I was … not well." While she didn't specifically mention Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, it was clear she was referencing the time she spent in England without her offspring.

Meghan Markle was famously caught on camera shedding a tear at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, but now there are questions about why she was really so emotional. Critics were quick to question why she and
Prince Harry didn't simply send for their children, who were under the care of Meghan's mother at the time. "Oh dear, how inconvenient that was for you both? Your children could have been brought over or you could have traveled back home. You weren't needed at all?"
wrote one critic. Said another, "Oh let's get the violins out. [Meghan] is forever traveling and leaving the children. Also there was no need for you to be at Our Late Queen Elizabeth's Funeral. You [weren't] wanted or needed there. You put Our Late Queen and Prince Philip through some hurt/pain which will not be forgotten." Chimed in a third keyboard critic, "Put another way, having declined/snubbed/boycotted (delete as appropriate) the late Queen's invitations to Balmoral and Sandringham with or without the kids whilst she was alive, the dastardly duo hung around for 3 weeks to milk the grief, choosing to abandon the kids."

In his memoir
Spare,
Prince Harry discussed how he and Meghan Markle were traveling around Manchester and Germany for charity work when they got word that Queen Elizabeth II's health had taken a turn. "Our quick trip would now be an odyssey. Another 10 days, at least. Difficult days at that. More, we'd have to be away from the children for longer than we'd planned, longer than we'd ever been," he wrote.
