During a meeting with press outside the White House, Tom Homan claimed Donald Trump's administration is setting a new goal of 7,000 arrests per day — more than double the earlier goal of 3,000 arrests per day. "For those that say 3,000 a day is too much, I want to remind them [to] do the math: We have to arrest 7,000 every single day for the remainder of this administration just to catch the ones [Joe] Biden released into the nation," the law enforcement officer said. If the administration hits its goal, there will be 1.2 million arrests by the end of the year.

The controversial legislation signed by Donald Trump on July 4 paved the way for ICE to hire 10,000 new agents and double the capacity to detain illegal immigrants to 100,000 beds. Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLauglin claimed the bill will "turbocharge" the administration's efforts to crack down on immigration.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem raved about the influx of funding the agency will have now that the bill has passed. "This $165 billion in funding will help the Department of Homeland Security and our brave law enforcement further deliver on President Trump's mandate to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!" she wrote on social media.
