A new poll was conducted to gauge where Americans stand on President Donald Trump's latest budget proposal. Just 23% of respondents said they support the legislation, while 42% oppose it. Another 34% said they don't have a strong opinion either way. A second poll conducted by KFF (formerly the Kaiser Family Foundation), reportedly showed even more bleak numbers for the administration — with 64% expressing unfavorable views of the bill and just 35% voicing support._
According to The Washington Post's polls, opposition to the bill centers around three major areas:–Extending tax cuts for individuals earning more than $400,000 per year
–Cutting federal funding for food assistance to low-income families
–Allocating $45 billion to build and maintain migrant detention centers
Of the three concerns, the proposed cuts to food assistance sparked the strongest backlash with 66% of respondents opposing the measure, while only 23% support it.
