David Gest is dead. The ex-husband of Liza Minnelli was 62.

Gest died on Tuesday of undetermined causes. His body was found in a Four Seasons hotel room in London. Police say in a statement, “Police were called at 10:17 a.m. on 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel, in Westferry Circus, to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s. London Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel.”

An autopsy will be conducted in the coming days. Gest was on “Celebrity Big Brother” in the UK earlier this year, but quit the series after 13 days due to an undisclosed medical issue. He previously appeared on “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” 10 years ago.

Gest was infamously married to Minnelli for five years. They wed in 2002, but separated the following year. The drawn-out divorce process, which ended in 2007, included Gest suing the singer for $10 million.

He alleged Minnelli had been abusive throughout their relationship, allegations she denied. The lawsuit was ultimately dismissed after a judge ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to go to trial. Prior to his days of tabloid headlines and reality TV, Gest was a well-known music producer and a close friend of Michael Jackson.

Gossip Cop has reached out to Minnelli for comment on her former husband’s passing.
