Comic Tig Notaro stunned fans at a stand-up gig on Friday when she announced she is fighting cancer.
The 41-year-old star, who has appeared on "The Sarah Silverman Program," kicked off her set at Los Angeles' Largo comedy club by working her diagnosis into her material.

As she stepped onstage to applause, she told the crowd, "Thank you, thank you, I have cancer, thank you, I have cancer, really, thank you."
She then added, "Tragedy plus time equals comedy. But I don't have the benefit of time. So I'm just going to tell you the tragedy and know that everything is going to be OK."
Notaro received a standing ovation at the end of her moving set and comic Louis CK tweeted, "in 27 years doing this, I've seen a handful of truly great, masterful standup sets. One was Tig Notaro last night at Largo."
