Quick lesson for the kids out there: The letters in MTV actually stands for "Music Television." In other words, the acronym actually implies that they play videos related to music. These days, though, it would be easy to misconstrue that since you'll be hard-pressed to find an actual music video on the network that has become a home for reality TV. However, there was a time when music videos ruled the world, and the women in those videos became pop culture sirens. In honor of Tawny Kitaen's 53rd birthday, we're reminiscing about some of the video vixens who changed the way we viewed music television.
Who: Tawny Kitaen
Muse to: Whitesnake
You know me from: "Here I Go Again"
The gold standard of all video vixens, Tawny Kitaen was the apple of every man and boy's eye when she rolled around on the hood of two Jaguars while wearing a white negligee during the legendary video (at the time she was dating Whitesnake's lead singer). Since then, Tawny has had a rough go. Twice divorced, Tawny entered rehab in 2006 following a felony drug possession charge. She was also featured on "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" in 2008 for an addiction to sleeping pills. In 2009, she was arrested for DUI. But even in lieu of these struggles, call us sentimental, but when we hear her name, we still only think of that music video.
