The interview accompanying Megan Fox's new Esquire cover includes an explanation of why the actress had her Marilyn Monroe tattoo removed. But she explained the "negative" connotations of the image on her forearm in terms of a certain flame-haired, troublemaking actress, saying that Monroe "was sort of like Lindsay [Lohan]. She was an actress who wasn't reliable, who almost wasn't insurable … She had all the potential in the world, and it was squandered. I'm not interested in following in those footsteps."
After the article's release, Fox clarified the comments, calling "both women … gifted actress," and explaining that, "I attempted to draw parallels between Lindsay and Marilyn in order to illustrate my point that while Marilyn may be an icon now, sadly she was not respected and taken seriously while she was still living." Fox added that if there was a "miscommunication," it was her own fault. (WENN)
