Mayim Bialik doesn't want to fight with you about attachment parenting
"Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik argued her case for attachment parenting through her book, "Beyond the Sling," but that doesn't mean she wants to convert strangers she meets on the street to the controversial style of raising kids. The 37-year-old mother of two recently told omg! that she's only interested in discussing why she believes in the attachment approach -- which involves keeping babies on a sling against the mother's body, sleeping next to the children and breast-feeding them until much later than usual -- with folks who actually want to learn something.
"If I'm talking to girlfriends, if I'm talking to random people, and we're talking about parenting, I tell them what works for me and why," says Bialik, who also holds a Ph.D., in neuroscience. "But a lot of people want to ask me things so that they can fight with me. And just because I'm a public person, who happened to have breast-fed and slept with her kids, that doesn't mean that I want to fight with you on the street or in the supermarket. So, I think you have to be really careful to understand why people want to know what they want to know."
