Sheryl Crow told federal investigators she saw Lance Armstrong doping: Report
Lance Armstrong's tell-all sit-down with Oprah Winfrey apparently hasn't dampened public interest in the cyclist's history of doping or the details surrounding it. In "Wheelmen," due out next Tuesday, Wall Street Journal reporters Reed Albergotti and Vanessa O'Connell allege that Crow witnessed her then-boyfriend Lance Armstrong getting a blood transfusion in 2004 on his private jet. "He explained that it was simply part of the sport -- that all cyclists were doing the same thing," the reporters write, adding that Armstrong didn't think Crow would ever share his secret with investigators or the press.
But when the feds came knocking on Crow's door in 2011, six years after the couple split, the singer was reportedly offered a deal to avoid criminal prosecution by cooperating and recounting what she'd seen. According to the book, quoted via the Washington Post, that's when Crow told a Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator that she'd seen her ex receiving the illegal transfusion.
