Brad Pitt Addresses His 'Drug Days'
"I'm Brad Pitt and I'm a drug addict." In fact, Brad is a self-professed former stoner, but he opened his talk at a Los Angeles screening of "The House We Live In" with a drug joke nonetheless. Directed by Eugene Jarecki, the new film documents America's 40-plus-years-long war on drugs, questioning its success. Acknowledging that he was joking and his "drug days have passed," Pitt explained why the issues raised in the film merit attention. "It's certainly true that I could probably land in any city, in any state, and get you whatever you wanted," he said. "I could find anything you're looking for, give me 24 hours or so. And yet we still support this, I have to say, this charade called the drug war. … It's a flawed, a backwards system/strategy that actually perpetuates itself." (Us)
