While attending the 2026 BAFTAs, Prince William let it slip that Kate Middleton was left in "floods of tears" by the movie Hamnet. "I can't watch it yet. I need to be in quite a calm state and I'm not at the moment. I will save it," the Prince of Wales said in a video shared to X._
Kate Middleton gushed over the critically acclaimed movie, calling it "beautiful" and how she was touched by the theme of "intergenerational grief" within the story. "I thought it was a bad idea, actually. Ended up with very puffy eyes," she said. "It was so beautifully shot. The music as well. The score is fantastic."_
The night out was a welcome reprieve for Prince William and Kate Middleton as they continued to deal with the fallout of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest. "William and Kate delivered their usual, impeccable red-carpet A-list glamour here, but there are a handful of tells that might reflect the undeniable tensions of the past week," body language expert Judi James tells HELLO!._
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly giving information to Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the U.K.'s trade envoy. "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office," King Charles III said in a statement via People. "What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all."_
According to author Russell Myers, Prince William wanted Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor gone long ago. "William always thought his uncle was a bit of an ignoramus," a palace source told the writer for his book William and Catherine: The Monarchy's New Era: The Inside Story via RadarOnline.com. "He would question, 'What does he actually do?' But it was more than that," the source added. "He'd seen how Andrew behaved in front of staff, ordering people about, the aggressive or dismissive manner; they'd never seen eye to eye."
