Mother's Day is, of course, a time to salute the hard work and sacrifice of moms everywhere. It's also a time for moms to celebrate the joy of having kids — you know, the good stuff that comes in between those sleepless nights, runny noses, and dirty diapers.
We've rounded up a list of Hollywood moms who have either welcomed a new addition recently or have a baby on the way. For these superstar mommies, this year promises to be extra special.
Jessica Alba has said that being a mom to daughter Honor Marie is "the best thing ever." Since Honor was born, Jessica says, "everything I do now is more meaningful." Here she takes little Honor out for some mommy-and-me brunch.
Nicole Richie has called motherhood "beyond amazing." It has certainly seemed to tame the 27-year-old former wild child, who these days is more likely to be spotted toting around daughter Harlow than hitting up the hottest club.
Earlier this year, Nicole and boyfriend Joel Madden announced that they are expecting their second child.
Between picking up 3-year-old Violet from day care and tending to newborn Seraphina Rose, Jennifer Garner has her hands full. She admits that balancing momdom and stardom can make her somewhat frenzied.
"[I] feel like half my brain is somewhere else all the time," she told People magazine, "but when the camera's rolling, I pull it together and focus for two minutes and then I kind of turn back to a ditz again.
Tori Spelling was so taken with mommyhood that she decided to write a book about it. "Mommywood" chronicles raising her 1-year-old son, Liam, and newborn daughter, Stella.
Having two young kids means a lot of joy, she says, but "it's also a lot of POOP!" Hey, she's just keeping it real.
Gwen Stefani credits motherhood with bringing out her "feminine side." In 2007, shortly after the birth of her son Kingston, she told reporters, "I'm in a repeater zone. I just want to make babies and make records." A year after that, she and husband Gavin Rossdale welcomed new baby Zuma into the family.
Nicole Kidman can't seem to stop gushing about Sunday Rose, her daughter with husband Keith Urban. "I cry even thinking of her. But they are tears of joy," she says.
Halle Berry says of raising her daughter, Nahla, "I thought I knew love before, but I never knew anything like this."
Motherhood has also inspired Halle to make prudent career choices. "I don't want my daughter to look back at my work and think, 'Mom sold out,'" she says. "I want to leave a legacy that she can be proud of."
Heidi Klum's household is part romper room, part obstacle course. "Our house is like Toys R Us – huge playground outside, trampoline, slides, the swings," she says.
Things stand to get a bit more cluttered later this year, since the supermodel announced that she and her husband, Seal, are expecting their fourth (and she claims their last!) child.
Sarah Jessica Parker isn't pregnant, but she is expecting twins via a surrogate in the summer. She and husband Matthew Broderick are already parents to 6-year-old James Wilkie.
Sarah Jessica admits that the working-mom role has certain sacrifices, namely: "High heels don't really fit into my life anymore."
Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs announced late last month that they're expecting their first child. For Idina, this happy announcement has been long in coming.
"[I've been ready for kids since] the day I met him," she admitted to Us Weekly.
Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery are also among the ranks of expectant Hollywood parents. A rep for the couple says the "Grey's Anatomy" star is thrilled to add a little McBaby to the family.
"Gossip Girl" star Kelly Rutherford is expecting a gossip baby any day now. She's already a mom to 2-year-old named Hermés Gustaf Daniel, and says that motherhood is her "greatest joy."
In the meantime, you can catch her on "Gossip Girl," trying to cover up that growing belly with various flowing garments and well-situated blankets.
Naomi Watts says that before the birth of her first baby "I wanted to be a mother for so long." Her joy was doubled when her second son, Samuel, was born late last year.
Luckily, Liev Schreiber is a hands-on dad. Naomi told Ellen DeGeneres that Liev has something of an obsession with the breast pump. "He was like 'I want the man boob," she said. Sounds like a great present for Father's Day.
"How I Met Your Mother" star Alyson Hannigan welcomed her daughter, Satyana, on March 24.
So far, the young actress seems able to keep the stresses of new mommydom in perspective. She recently blogged, "I've been puked on, peed on, pooped on and I've never been happier in my life. Babies are amazing!!!"
