After allegations surfaced that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor gave his protection officer Virginia Giuffre's date of birth and Social Security number to investigate her, the Metropolitan Police announced they did not find evidence to support the claim. "The Met remains committed to thoroughly assessing any new information that could assist in this matter," a representative said in a statement. "To date, we have not received any additional evidence that would support reopening the investigation. In the absence of any further information, we will be taking no further action. As with any other matter, should new and relevant information be brought to our attention, including in any information resulting from the release of material in the United States, we will assess it."_
In response, Virginia Giuffre's family expressed their disappointment. "While we have hailed the United Kingdom's overall handling of the case of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor previously, today we feel justice has not been served," they said in a statement._
Virginia Giuffre, who took her life in April, claimed she was trafficked to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor by Jeffrey Epstein when she was 17. The disgraced royal has continued to deny the allegations against him._
In 2021, Virginia Giuffre filed a civil suit against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in New York. Despite the father of two maintaining his innocence, both parties reached an out-of-court settlement in 2022._
Due to the allegations of misconduct and his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles and evicted from Royal Lodge. "Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continuesto deny the allegations against him," Buckingham Palace said in a statement. "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."
