Tom Bower claimed that after Meghan Markle allegedly barred
Prince Harry from speaking to David Beckham and
Victoria Beckham at the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia, the father of four traveled to Boston from the U.K. to attend the Earthshot Prize as a favor to
Prince William. Bower described it in his book,
The House of Beckham, as the soccer star's "way of getting his revenge for the Sydney snub."

Tom Bower claimed in his tell-all about David Beckham and Victoria Beckham that Meghan Markle ensured the Hollywood stars did not get attention at the charity event. "Photographs of the two together were forbidden. David was said to be puzzled as to why [Prince] Harry wouldn't meet him. The exclusion order, it later transpired, was issued by Meghan," the journalist said. "She did not want any competition in the media from Beckham and especially not from his wife Victoria."

In the years since David Beckham's alleged rift with
Prince Harry, he's publicly expressed loyalty to
Prince William. "Whenever the Prince of Wales sends me a message and says, 'I need you to do this' or 'be there,' it's always a 'yes,'" the athlete
said at the 2022 Earthshot Prize on behalf of the future king of England. "Over the years, I've done a lot with the Prince of Wales, and I've always been there whenever he's asked me to get involved with things."

David Beckham is a staunch royalist and recently received his knighthood from
King Charles III for his "services to sport and charity" during his career. "People know how patriotic I am. I love my country," he said in a
statement. "I've always said how important the monarchy is to my family. I'm lucky enough to have traveled around the world and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud."
