King Charles III's push for him to move out.
As the Duke of York continues to reside in the mansion as a non-working royal, critics wonder how he can afford to maintain his lifestyle.

Prince Andrew — who stepped down from royal duties after his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and assault allegations were exposed in 2020 — no longer receives a royal salary to help finance the 30-room estate.

Though King Charles III has reportedly taken a step back from supporting Prince Andrew financially, the Duke of York has other streams of income.
According to
Daily Express, Andrew continues to benefit from his investment portfolio and international business connections.

As the scandal continues to hold a dark cloud over the royal family, Prince Andrew hasn't been seen at some events — and he's not expected to partake in the royals' Christmas walkabout this year.

"What most annoys him is his lack of a royal status," royal biographer Andrew Lownie told Sky News. "That's what really sort of gave him his whole sense of identity. And that's, you know, it's not being able to put on his uniforms and strut around and being self-important."
